Chesapeake Physicians
for Social Responsibility
Chesapeake Physicians for Social Responsibility (CPSR) is dedicated to addressing urgent challenges that pose existential threats to our planet and humanity. With over 900 members throughout Maryland, our unwavering commitment is centered around tackling the pressing issues of the climate crisis and working for the abolition of nuclear weapons. These challenges are intricately interconnected with other concerns, including policy and action in major economic sectors including energy, transportation, and building, as well as pollution, social determinants of health, and the pursuit of health equity and environmental, social, and racial justice.

CPSR strives to create a sustainable future for all by engaging present and future health care professionals in advocacy, policy development and implementation, education, and community involvement. We invite you to participate in these vital efforts. It’s only by working together that we can make a meaningful impact and safeguard the future for generations to come.

It was a tough, exhausting session in Annapolis this year.
I have never before seen such behind closed doors sausage making as the “Next Generation” bill that leadership pushed through in the last week (see details below). A bright spot was seeing more advocates, students and non-students, testify for CPSR than ever before. Nonetheless, some of the dangerous winds coming out of the DC/ Trump administration may have been a factor in the disappointing outcomes.

WE still believe that working locally is important for CPSR. We advocated for immigrants’ rights, an environment with less ghg , less pollution, and less environmental injustice. We advocated for renters’ rights, and nuclear abolition.
