Chesapeake Physicians for Social Responsibility (CPSR) is dedicated to addressing urgent challenges that pose existential threats to our planet and humanity. With over 900 members throughout Maryland, our unwavering commitment is centered around tackling the pressing issues of the climate crisis and working for the abolition of nuclear weapons. These challenges are intricately interconnected with other concerns, including policy and action in major economic sectors including energy, transportation, and building, as well as pollution, social determinants of health, and the pursuit of health equity and environmental, social, and racial justice.

CPSR strives to create a sustainable future for all by engaging present and future health care professionals and others in advocacy, policy development and implementation, education, and community involvement. We invite you to participate in these vital efforts. It’s only by working together that we can make a meaningful impact and safeguard the future for generations to come.

80th Anniversaries of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings
It was an honor to share the afternoon with about 10 other co-sponsoring organizations and 100 attendees at our film screening and panel discussion this August to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Either the events of August 6 and August 9, 1945 will be repeated or they won’t be, and it’s up to us to ensure they never happen again.
